7-Day Desert Tour from Errachidia to the Merzouga Desert & High Atlas Mountains

Discover the Tafilalet region during this 7-day, 6-night desert adventure. Visit nomadic families, enjoy Gnaoua music, stroll through lush oases, ride camels over golden dunes, and witness magical sunrises and sunsets. Spend a night under the stars in a desert camp and explore the traditional markets of Rissani and the fossil town of Erfoud.

Day 1: Arrival in Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

Upon arrival in Errachidia, we’ll pick you up from the airport and head south toward the Moroccan desert. We’ll make panoramic stops, especially at the breathtaking Ziz Valley. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Merzouga.

Day 2: Explore the Moroccan Desert – Nomads – Gnaoua Village – Oasis

After breakfast, the day is dedicated to discovering the wonders of the Merzouga Desert. Explore sand dunes, mines, and fossil zones—perfect for outdoor adventures. Visit an old kohl mine, meet nomads in handwoven tents, and share tea with Berber families. Next, head to Khamlia village to experience Gnaoua music and dancing. After lunch, walk through an oasis before riding camels through the desert at sunset. Spend the night in a desert camp with a traditional dinner and fire-side entertainment.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Zagora

Wake early to watch the stunning sunrise. After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel, then drive to Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalet and an active market town. Explore the souk, then journey toward Zagora through the Draa Valley with a picnic en route. Pass by Tamegroute, known for its green pottery. Arrive in Zagora and enjoy a peaceful walk among the palm groves. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.

Day 4: Zagora – Agdz – Ait Ben Haddou

Early departure through the Draa Valley, passing kasbahs and palm groves. Visit the fortified village of Tamnougalt before driving through the Anti-Atlas Mountains to visit a mountain oasis. Arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou in the afternoon. After checking in, enjoy free time before strolling through the kasbah and watching the sunset from a hilltop granary overlooking the Ounila Valley. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.

Day 5: Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Rose Valley – Boutaghrar – Dades Valley

Continue your tour to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco,” where you can visit the film studios used in movies like The Mummy, Gladiator, and The Last Temptation of Christ. Visit Taourirt Kasbah, a former Glaoui governor’s residence. Then travel through the Rose Valley and along an off-road track to meet nomads living in caves before reaching Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight in the valley.

Day 6: Dades Valley – Todgha Gorges – Imilchil

After breakfast, head to the spectacular Todgha Gorges for a scenic walk. Continue your journey through mountain villages and cross the Tigrouzine Pass to reach Imilchil. After some rest, drive to the legendary twin lakes of Isli and Tislit, named after star-crossed lovers from opposing Berber tribes. Dinner and overnight in Imilchil.

Day 7: Imilchil – Rich – Ziz Valley – Errachidia

Depending on your flight time, depart early for Errachidia, passing once more through the scenic Ziz Valley. End of your 7-day desert tour from Errachidia.
